NOVA SCOTIA’S LARGEST & RICHEST BASS TOURNAMENT
Nova Scotia's Largest Smallmouth Bass Tournament, held annually on Ponhook Lake in Queens County, Nova Scotia.
ECBD founder Kevin Veinotte, founded the East Coast Bass Division in 2008. He worked tirelessly to bring Nova Scotia a quality, big, one time tournament each year. Kevin grew the event from small beginnings to the largest event in NS by 2014. The NS bass tournament scene owes Kevin a big round of applause for doing so.
In 2015, the ECBD was forced to consider closing down due to health reasons experienced by Kevin. Mark Weare (The First Cast Radio Show) agreed at that time to assume control of the event and ended up renaming the tournament, the Atlantic Bass Open, more commonly known as the ABO. Mark enlisted the advisory help of Gary Josey and Cody Lohnes, long time volunteers and well respected tournament anglers here in Nova Scotia. Our goal is to always ensure every participating angler to leaves our event, excited to return the following year for another great experience.
The event takes place within the Ponhook Lodge Campground, which is widely considered the premier tournament locale in all of Nova Scotia. Ample parking, camping sites available for anglers, nearby motels mere minutes away in Liverpool, NS, public washrooms, on-site canteen/restaurant, meeting hall, deep water access ramp and dockage plus safe beaching areas for your boat all make it #1 in our books. Our weigh-ins here draw respectable audiences as well so the entire show is second to none! When there, be sure to offer owner, Ted Wamboldt, a big thanks and salutation for supporting our event each year.
Whether you are an angler or an observer, be sure to plan your August long weekend around the Atlantic Bass Open, we hope to see you there! - ABO STAFF
